Car brokering is a service that organises to buys cars on their client’s behalf. Like a mortgage broker or insurance broker, a car broker acts as the middle man between the vendor and the buyer. In Queensland the individual must be Licenced Motor Dealer to represent clients buying or selling a vehicle.

You might only buy a car once every two, four, or 10 years, but car brokers do it everyday and are licenced motor dealers so they know the tricks of the trade. Basically, they save you the hassle of having to go to multiple dealerships to get the best price. We do the whole negotiation process for you. Often we have a network of colleagues who work at different dealerships to lean on and normally have financiers, insurers, wholesale dealers that we know and more to contact to get the right deal.

When do I enlist a car broker?

Its time to contact a car broker when you’ve got at least some idea of the car you want. You will already need to know the makes and models you are interested in buying. You will also need to know details of the car you want like an automatic or manual, diesel, petrol, electric or hybrid etc. Preferably you will know, or even have driven the car you want, options and accessories you might like, desired colours and when you want to take delivery.
Your broker then liaises with their network of dealers to find and negotiate a good price on the car on your behalf.

Do car brokers charge a fee?

Normally there is no direct fee to you. The dealership pays the broker directly for introducing a sale for them.
What about your old car will they buy it or trade-in for you?
During the process of finding you a new car brokers will provide a price to buy your car from you as a trade-in.

Yes, brokers will have a finance broker whom they know, can recommend and introduce you to.

Will a car broker get me a good price?

Most car brokers have relationships with dealerships and salespeople they have worked with over the years and of course, know how the game works. There are also extras your broker may be able to secure – other than price – that sweetens the deal for you.

These could include:

  • Floor mats
  • A paint upgrade
  • Window tinting
  • Paint protection
  • Extended warranty…and any myriad other extras and add-ons.

In the end, the aim is to get you a cheaper car than you could have organised with better specifications you can enjoy for as long as you have the car, all resulting in a better resale value and some saved money in your pocket!
